After A LOT of searching and trying to find the best way to keep our families and friends up to date on how our adoption process was going, we finally decided to do our own blog. We wanted to keep things private, but then decided that if everyone on the world wide web did that, then we wouldn't have as much information about what to really expect in the months to come. We have been following several other blogs from other families who have adopted a child from Russia and they were very helpful to us.
Here is the very short version of where we are at:
We are in the process of doing an international adoption thru Russia. We made our first phone call to the adoption agency in February & started filling out a mound of paperwork in March. We got our last document apostilled on May 15, 2008 & we are on the waiting list as of that date. We will have to travel to Russia twice, the first time we will get to meet our child & the second time we will get to bring him/her home. While we are in Russia we plan to keep everyone updated on what is going on thru this blog and let you see a little bit of Russia!
Now for the latest news…..We talked to the agency on September 16th and found out that we are now 4th on the list!!!! They still don’t really have a time frame of when we may get our referral though; all they said was that it could be 1 week to several months. The last time we had talked to them they said that they normally start getting more referrals in September, so we are praying that it happens very soon!
